  Robert inherited the Barony upon the death of his childless older broth e r , H e r vey. Baron Robert of Stafford, who in the 25th year of Henry III , 1 2 4 1 , u pon doing homage and paying 100 pounds for his relief, had liv er y o f h i s l ands. This feudal lord was in the wars of Gascogne, during t h e 3 8 t h y ear of His Majesty, Henry III, 1254, and in four years afterwa r d s , 1 2 58, he had a military summons to march against the Welsh.
