  Stearns, Ezra S. Genealogical and Family History of the State of New Hampshire (Lewis Publishing Company, 1908) Vol. 2, Page 869 Thomas Barnard, the emigrant ancestor, born about 1612, was a husbandman or planter of Salisbury, Massachusetts, where he received land in the first divisions, 1640 and 1643. He was one of the first settlers of Amesbury and received grants of lands there at various times. His name is prominent on the records down to 1672. He was killed by Indians about 1677, the time being indicated by the inventory of his estate, August 6 of that year.
