Notes - The surname originally came from 'le Hore' then over the years lost the 'le'. Other spelling variations were Whoore, Whoare, Hoore, Woor. In the 1500's and 1600's the English branch of the family slowly changed to Hoare, whilst one branch of the American family kept the 'Hore' spelling, but descendants also changed to 'Hord' and 'Hoard'.
