  Gerald FitzMaurice was a Cambro-Norman nobleman, of a Norman family who h a d s e t t led in Wales. He arrived in Ireland, with his father, Maurice F i t z G e rald about 1197, taking part in the conquest of Limerick. He acqu i r e d l a nd and settled at Croom, in County Limerick.
