      Both the brothers John and William Potter, signed the Plantation Covena n t i n N e w H a ven, Connecticut on June 4, 1639, just nineteen years after t h e P i l g r ims settled at Plymouth, Massachusetts. William purchased land a t N e w H a v e n & was occupied there as a "planter" until his death. Willia m' s m o t h e r Hannah & his younger brother John Potter also settled at New H a v e n .
