  From Margaret Hayne's book "Items of Family History" written 1902; "In 1791 William Alston married Rebecca Motte's daughter, the lovely Mary Brewton. In 1791 he bought from his mother-in-law the old Brewton home on King Street that Miles Brewton had built, where Mary had spent so many happy years of her youth." "This house served as headquarters of Lord Rawdon during Revolutionary times. This historical house passed into the possession of Mrs. Alston's daughter, Mrs. William B. Pringle."
