Notes - George Parkhurst was born in Ipswich in England and all of his children by Phebe were baptized there. Sometime before 1642, he emigrated to New England, settling in Watertown, Massachusetts. It is not clear if Phebe accompanied him or whether she died in England. In any case, George married a Susanna Simpson in New England and had five more sons with her. In 1655, he petitioned the General Court of Massachusetts to sell a piece of land in his wife's estate in order that he might return to England to aid his wife who had already returned with their five youngest children. He claimed that his wife and children were destitute and that his age was 67 years at that time. He probably left for England soon after 1655 and was buried at St. Lawrence church in Ipswich, England, June 18, 1675. He may have been the "Old George Parkhurst" who was buried on 18 June 1675 at the Church of Saint Lawrence, Ipswich.
All his older children remained in New England.
