  He was born in Holland in 1620. He came to New Amsterdam, 1639, went t o Fort Orange (now Albany, NY), as a Corporal, advanced to Wachtmeester ( quartermaster) of the fort. Albany 1639-92. Trader, moved to NYC, 1692. O ne of the first 5 patentees of Schenectady, 1684, (Gov Dongan) though h e probably never lived there. He had 5 bouweries and a village lot (Uni on and Washington Sts). The only clue to his origins is that he was said to be "of Hitlant" in h is marriage record. That was a Dutch name for the Shetland Islands. The re were documented Teller families living there at the time, so very po ssibly his origins will someday be found there. He was born in Holland in 1620.
