    • Caspar Ansel VanLoan was born on August 19, 1827 in Athens, New York. He was married three times and had eight sons and five daughters. He died on September 16, 1915, in Visalia, California, having lived a long life of 88 years, and was buried there. He was one of the original 49rs, and is listed as a passenger on the Nautilus from New York, Feb. 22nd, 1849. He panned for gold on the Yuba River.
