    LifeSketch Tristram Norsworthy the 1st, patented 100 acres of land upon a place called the Long Pone, May 10, 1638, June 5, 1639, fifty more acres of land called “Kennedy Island”; also 200 acres in Upper Norfolk, “toward the bay behind the Ragged Islands” for transportation of four persons, and 150 acres for transportation of himself, wife Ann, and a servant. He became a Justice and was a Member of the House of Burgesses from Upper Norfolk, VA, 1641. (References: VA Land Patent Book No. 1, pp. 83, 111, 530 and 531: Tyler’s Encyclopedia, p. 298; Executive Journals of the Council of Colonial VA, Vol. 11, p. 46) John Norsworthy, son of Tristram Norsworthy and wife Ann, married Frances English, dau. Of John English. The inventory and appraisal of his estate is presented in Isle of Wight County, VA court by Frances, the wife and was recorded August 9, 1670. Frances (English) Norsworthy married (2nd) to John Isles, and in her Will of May 15, 1691, names her son, Tristram Norsworthy. (Ref: “Wills & Administrations of Isle of Wight County, VA, 1647-1800”, Book # 1, by Blanche Adams Chapman, now deceased; see p. 47 document mentions dau. Judith Norsworthy; son Tristram Norsworthy; son, John Isles; dau. Frances Hodges and eldest dau., Frances Houssen and dau. Elizabeth Bridges; Will dated May 15, 1691 and recorded August 10, 1691 with Tristram Norsworthy, executor. Tristram Norsworthy, son of John and Frances Norsworthy, married Sarah Pitt, dau. Of Colonel John Pitt before the year. The Will of this Tristram was dated March 1709-10 and probated in the year 1724. His Will names son Joh Norsworthy. (Ref: see “Marriages of Iales of Wight County, VA” by Blanche Chapman. John Norsworthy, son of Tristram and wife Sarah Pitt, married Isabel and he made his Will March 5, 1760, proved May 1, 1760. Tristram Norsworthy, son of Joh & Isabel married Esther Bagnall before 1754. According to tax list of Isle of Wight, he died about 1784 and is estate pays taxes on Manor Plantation, Ragged Island and Bagnall’s, the latter of which descended through his wife. His Will dated January 5, 1784, recorded May 6, 1784; leaves to son Joseph Norsworthy the “land on Ragged Island Creek” . See Wills & Administrations of IOW 1647-1800” by Chapman, Vol. III, p. Tristram Norsworthy of ye Ragged Islands, gent.\" In 1699 George Norsworthy, eldest son of Major George Norsworthy, which last was eldest son of Tristram Norsworthy above named, was appointed by the council lieutenant-colonel and commander-in-chief of Nansemond county.; ; IV--Burgesses and Other Prominent
