Bond, in his Genealogies of Watertown, Massachusetts, identified her as Anne, daughter of Simon Stone and Joan Clarke.[1] This identification was repeated in some later publications. This identification is incorrect. It has been rejected as not chronologically possible.\" Ann Jones Birth: 1602 Death: May 1, 1680 Lewis Jones and wife Anna were in Watertown in 1684, and from them most of the name in the town descended. He died 1682-4, and this pious matron Ann, may have been his wife (Harris\' Epitaphs) JONES, LEWIS, Roxbury, with w. Ann, wh. d. 1 May 1680, aged 72, or 78 by the inscript. on gr. stone, as Goodwin gives it, is found among memb. of the ch. a. 1640, had Phebe, b. 21 Jan. bapt. 1 Feb. 1646, d. 6 July 1650 by a scald, says ch. rec. but he had elder ch. Lydia, perhaps b. in Eng. wh. m. 30 Oct. 1656, Jonathan Whitney, beside Josiah, b. 1643; and Shubael, 1 July, or 14 Oct. says Goodwin, 1651. This last was prob. infirm in mind. He was long at Watertown, and there d. 11 Apr. 1684, having to his will of 7 Jan. 1679, add. codic. of 11 Apr. 1682. (Savage\'s Genealogical Dictionary) From Kevin Avery: Bond (Genealogies of the Families Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown) thought there was a strong presumption that Ann Stone, d/o Simon Stone, married Lewis Jones. But in the recent \"Ancestry of Eva Belle Kempton\" (NEHGS), it says that Ann Stone was *not* the wife of Lewis Jones. From Eric Stone: I genuinely believe this is Ann (Stone) Jones. Links to her parents: Simon Stone and Joan (Clarke) Stone. [as noted in her wikitree page, the chronology doesn\'t work.] From Scott DuJardin: Lewis Jones calls John Stone his brother [church affiliation?] in his will - apparently the justification others have used for assuming that Ann Stone was Lewis Jones\' wife. From Cathy Moran Truesdale: \"Jonathan Whitney was born in 1634 at England. He was the son of John Whitney and Elinor (?). Jonathan Whitney was found on a passenger list in 1635 at Elizabeth & Ann. From David Jenkins If the Anna (Ann) Stone who emigrated with her family of Symon and Joan on the ship \"Increase\" (departed England, Apr., 1635) was 11 years old (yr. of birth, 1624), and that is accurate, then it seems clear that the Ann represented in this memorial was not the daughter of Symon and Joan Stone.
