      I"n our obituary of today appears a notice of the death of Peter MacCallum, Esq. of St. Peters Bay, Kings County, Prince Edward Island. The deceased gentleman was a native of Ross-shire, Scotland and emigrated to America in 1815, landing in Nova Scotia, where he resided until 1828 when he came to Prince Edward Island. He held for many consecutive years the office of High Sheriff of Kings County and was elected in 35 to represent that county in the House of Assembly. In 1833 he was appointed Commissioner of Senate Debts and in 1838 Justice of the Peace, having at the time of his death only two seniors in the magistracy of the country. He was Lieutenant Col. of Militia and held many other public offices the duties of which he performed with credit to himself and satisfactory to every one. He was especially looked up to for advice as one of our most experienced magistrates. He was universally respected for his high moral worth and integrity and beloved by his friends for the uniform kindness of his disposition. His loss will be regretted by all who knew him and especially by his sorrowing widow and family." Patriot, April 1868.
      Mr. MacCallum was educated at Tain Royal Academy, Ross-shire, Scotland.
