See in MEMORIES. DO NOT CONFUSE WITH HER SISTER OR WITH OTHER DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO MD. husbands with similar names. 2 DIFFERENT JOHN THOMPSONS WERE AT NEW HAVEN. To see the primary sources available to prove her father and her 2nd husband Thomas Johnson, see \"Genealogies of New Jersey Families: Families A-Z,\" page 250-251. \"5. ELLEN HARRISON, daughter of Richard HARRISON (#1), born 163-, died supposedly November 2, 1694, supposedly married first February 25, 1650 at Branford, Connecticut, John THOMPSON, married second Thomas JOHNSON, born ca. 1630, died November 5, 1694. This source stated: \"Ellen Harrison, daughter of Richard Harrison, born 163-, died supposedly November 2, 1694, supposedly married first February 25, 1650 at Branford, Connecticut, John Thompson, [see note below] married 2) Thomas Johnson, born ca. 1630, died November 5, 1694. ANCIENT FAMILIES OF NEW HAVEN, v. 8, p. 1749 shows her family with 1st husband John Thompson, 5 CH: Mary, Anne [or Hannah], Elizabeth, Lydia, Sarah. Md. 2) Thomas Johnson after 1674 and they moved to Newark, NJ. Thomas JOHNSON was one of the original founders of Newark, N.J. and was active in town affairs. On December 17, 1669 he, as Constable of Newark, was ordered to publish the recall of TREAT’s and CRAINE’s commissions as Justices of the Peace (NJA 21:30). Thomas JOHNSON of Newark, about 64 years old, in his will dated November 2, 1694 and proved November 21, 1694 names sons JOSEPH, JOHNn, THOMAS, and ELIPHAT the youngest who is named executor (NJA 21:215-16; 23:265).\" This relationship was confirmed by Thomas Johnson and wife Ellen swearing in court that their niece, Hopestill Lyne, was the daughter of Henry Lyne (and Ellen\'s sister Elizabeth Harrison, dau. of Richard Harrison), \"the child Hopestill by his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Richard HARRISON of West Kerby, Cheshire, is still alive as sworn to by Richard HARRISON, Thomas JOHNSON, William MEAKER, and Ellen JOHNSON.\" Although Ellen or Ellena had earlier connections to Connecticut, she and her husband moved to New Jersey where records exist to prove relationships. She died 8 April 1690 according to Jacobus. Johnson died in 1694. The only children mentioned in her husband Thomas Johnson\'s will were his above named four sons, all Johnsons. Documents at New Haven prove relationships. can be proven by the documents cited above. She would have died in New Jersey and not in New Haven. To add confusion, her sibling Thomas Harrison married a widow Dorothy Thompson. But these are 2 DIFFERENT JOHN THOMPSONS as FAMILIES of ANCIENT NEW HAVEN, v. 3 show--John Thompson family 1 on p. 1749, wife Ellen Harrison and John Thompson family no. 3, pg. 1751 whose widow Dorothy unknown md. See these excerpts at https://mattocks2.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/richard-harrison-of-newark/ For information about this Thomas Johnson\'s birth family also see \"Genealogies of Connecticut Families: From the New England Historical and Genealogical Register,\" v. 1, pages 297-198. This source addresses various Johnsons who were at New Haven and then at Newark, N. J. About the birth family this source begins with the father and gives names of his four sons. \"Thomas Johnson (1) was early in New Haven, and was drowned, with Thomas Ashley, in the harbor, in 1640. It is said that he came with his brother Robert, and left four sons: i. Thomas (2), of New Haven and Newark, N. J., 1666, the progenitor of the New Jersey Johnsons. He died Nov. 5, 1694, aged 64. ii. Daniel, of New Haven. iii. William, of New Haven and Wallingford, Ct. married Sarah Hall, and had 14 children. [This is disputed.] iv. Jeremiah of New Haven. [This is disputed.]\" This family allegedly came from Hull, Yorkshire. [This needs verifying.] In this source there is a section, \"Supplementary notes on the Johnson Family,\" page 305. This claims that Thomas (2) Johnson who is the subject of this person page, m. Ellena____, and had: 1. JOSEPH, b. 30 Nov 1651; 2. JOHN, b. Apr. 27, 1654; 3. ABIGAIL, b. Jan. 16, 1656-7; 4. LOVING (dau), b. Nov. 5, 1659. 5. THOMAS, b. July 11, 1664; 6. ELIPHALET, b. 1668.\" This Thomas Johnson of this page made his will in 1694 and died soon thereafter. Some sources say this Thomas Johnson md. Ellen Bostwick. However, the Harrison family data has specific data that appears to make their claim that Thomas Johnson md. Ellen Harrison is correct in a deposition regarding Ellen\'s sister\'s child Hopestill Lines. The New Jersey Archives, v. 21, p. 29 contains a transaction that involved Thomas and Ellen (Harrison) Johnson with other descendants of Richard Harrison, Sr. of West Kirby, Cheshire, England and of New Haven and Branford, CN, in behalf of Ellen\'s niece Hopestill. \"1668, June 18, Certificate, that Hopestill Lyne, 6 to 7 years old, the daughter of Henry Lyne of New Haven, in New England, son of John Lyne of Badby, Northamptonshire, which Henry died, January 14, 1662, and had the child Hopestill by his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Harrison of West Kerby, Cheshire, is still alive as sworn to by Richard Harrison (Jr.), Thomas Johnson, William Meaker, and Ellen Johnson.\" Caution on discussion below about \"Eleanor\" Harrison. Also see data from the above source at: https://mattocks2.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/richard-harrison-of-newark/ Life Sketch Will try to find her original record. Thomas Johnson\'s 2nd wife had been attached as mother of his children which is incorrect, especially considering she was then married to John Thompson and having children by him.
