      After a few years Ebenezer Cutler went to England on a visit and there married Mary, daughter of Colonel Hicks, of the 70th Regiment. Two Children were born in England and four in Nova Scotia. He was Protonotary of the County of Annapolis, and was a zealous Episcopalian. He died there in 1831, quite aged. Mary, his widow, died at the same place in 1839. He was proscribed and banished in 1779. August 3rd, the judge appointed a commission to settle his estate. His first wife, Miriam, died at Northboro, Mass., and her estate was inventoried Sept. 10, 1784, amounting to 100 Pounds.

      "476 ....That your petitioner was an Inhabitant of Groton in the province of Massachusetts Bay where he possessed a good Estate and was a considerable Dealer in English Goods. In consequence of his continuing his Business, after the agreement for nonimportation had taken place and returning from Boston, with the Goods he had purchased there, was overtaken by the Mob, carried back to Boston, his wagons wrested from him and he carted through the streets upon which Insult and Injury he commenced a suit at Law against the Committee that Headed the Mob, but from the Disposition of the people at that Period, no Jury would agree on a verdict. In September 1774 he was obliged to leave his Family and Estate for three months, that on the 19th April 1775 he was drove a second time to a necessity of leaving all attempting to take refuge in Boston, at the rescue of his Life and after a Struggle of two months and being imprisoned got on board His Majesties Ship Scarborough..."
