  SAR Patriot #: P-126953 State of Service: VA Qualifying Service: Soldier / Patriotic Service DAR #: A133396 Qualifying Service Description: Captains Jas Newell, Wm Love, Montgomery County Militia, Virginia Private in Fincastle County Militia, Virginia, in 1774 for the Battle of Point Pleasant Richard served in Revolutionary War under Captain Daniel Smith and under Lt William Edmondson, Dunsmore's War. Military Service 1777, Montgomery Co., VA, Militia under Captains’ Newell and Love, 1777-1790. Under Captain Love, on Sept. 7, 1780, he participated in the Battle of Kings Mountain.
