Duxbury, Plymouth, Mass.
He was a blacksmith.
1638, 6, 4. Robert Paddock of Duxbury, Smith, gave a bond at this date, for £10;
agreeing that he would bring a bill of indictment at next General Court against
William Corvannel for the suspicion of the breaking of his house and taking out 13s.
8d. out of a chest therein; and Robert further agreed to give evidence thereunto to
Grand Jury and Petty Jury. Same date as above, he had a grant of the garden place
next Thomas Willet, which William Paddy should have had. This grant was remitted
to John Groomes.
1641, 12, 31. He was granted four acres of upland where he desired, about Kenelmes
dingle.
1642, 11, 1. He was on a Jury in case of Robert Morris vs. John Hassell, account of
trespass. Damages laid at £20. Jury found for plaintiff £5 and charges.
1643. Plymouth. His name in list of those able to bear arms between ages of 16 and 60.
1646, 6, 2. Constable.
1646, 10, 20. He complains to Court, desiring to have an account of what was due
him from last will and testament of William Palmer. (William Palmer the elder made
his will 1637, 11, 7, proved 1637, 12, 4, but no mention is made of Robert Paddock,
nor are all of William Palmer's own children mentioned, perhaps partly be cause he
had "married a young woman who is dear unto me.")
1649, 6, 4. He was presented for being drunk, and cleared by payment off ine.
1650, 11, 19. "Whereas Robert Paddock of Plymouth, lately deceased, did on his
death bed give and dispose his son John Paddock aged about five years unto Capt.
Thomas Willett to be at his disposing and under his guidance as his own child.
These presents do therefore witness that Mary Paddock the wife of the said
Robert Paddock doth condescend unto and allow of the said act of her husband,
in the disposing of his said son John to Captain Willett as aforesaid."
1650, 12, 3. Mary Paddock, widow, sold to Stephen Wood of Plymouth, Smith,
for £9, 10s. "all that her house, garden plot, and shop situated in Plymouth
aforesaid, in the South Street, together with all the shelves and boards, both loose
and nailed in or about the house, shop or garden place aforesaid, with all the doors,
locks, windows, and glass in and about the house and shop aforesaid, as also three
acres or thereabouts be it more or less of upland ground lying in the New field, being
bounded with the land of Richard Sparrow on the one side and the land of John
Thompson on the other side." The terms of payment were to be £4, 10s. by the
1st of March next ensuing and remainder of £5 to be paid by that time twelve
months in cattle. It was agreed that she should dwell and remain in the house till
the first of the next March and then to leave it to Stephen Wood.

p. 338: "Paddock, Robert, smith, Plymouth, creditor of Job Cole, 1638; able to bear arms, 1643, Duxbury, proprietor 1638. Goodwife received money from estate of Job Cole "for the child." Children: Zachariah born 20 March, 1636, Mary born 10 March, 1638, Alice born 7 March, 1640, a daughter born 1641, John born 1 April, 1643.
"He was buried July 25, 1650; on his death-bed he gave his son John to Capt. Thomas Willett; the widow Mary confirmed this in Nov. following. She sold house and shop to Stephen Wood Dec. 3, 1650. The daughter Alice married 24 March, 1650, Thomas Roberts. William Palmer, born 27 June, 1634, was his son-in-law. [Plymouth Colony Records vol. 8]"

Mary had a child, Susanna, by Robert Paddock before his death in 1650. This
event was probably the entry in the Plymouth record of births, marriages,
and burials which listed on the page dated 1649, the birth of a child to xxx
Paddock with no name of the child shown; probably in March or April.
(Shurtleff, Nathaniel B, Records of the Colony of Plymouth) However,
Whittemore reports the following: "Susanna Paddock, born 1649." (Whittemore, Henry, Genealogical Guide to the Early Settlers of America)
