Ealhmund was King of Kent in 784. He is reputed to be the father of Kin g E g b e r t who was King of Wessex and, later, King of Kent. Asser's The L if e o f K i n g Alfred identifies him as the son of Eafa.
He is not known to have struck any coins, and the only contemporary evi d e n c e o f him is an abstract of a charter dated 784, in which Ealhmund g r a n t e d land to the Abbot of Reculver. In this charter he is identified a s E a l m u ndus rex CanciƦ. By the following year Offa of Mercia seems to h av e b e e n r uling directly, as he issued a charter without any mention of a l o c a l k i ng.
