| Notes |
- John Doane first arrived in North America, at Plymouth Colony, in 1630, bringing with him his wife and possibly a daughter (all later children were born in Plymouth or Eastham). He was a yeoman and an innkeeper. Mr Doane became a freeman in Plymouth Colony in 1633, and was later a founding freeman of Eastham (called Nauset from 16445 to 1651) . His inventory contained nine books, indicating that he was likely educated in England. In support of his being educated, he was appointed to a committee to revise laws. Source: "The Pilgrim Migration" by Robert Charles Anderson. Pages 171-177.
