Frankie was a slave who belonged to Nathaniel's brother. Nathaniel fell in love with Frankie; but his brother opposed the relationship and was going to sell her. Instead, Nathaniel sold her to a slave buyer so that he could then purchase her. And they lived together until his death in 1852. His will attached. Frankie still had many slaves in 1860 at 80 years old. She was emancipated. |
