    • The pedigree of "Gerberge, Countess d'Anjou," is highly uncertain. She w a s t h e f i rst wife of Foulk II the "Good," Count d'Anjou, who is known t o h a v e r u led this French province in the Loire-Centre region from 942 t o 9 8 7 C E . H e made peace with the Normans and was a scholar, diplomat a nd s t a t e sman. He helped found the Angevin dynasty from which many of E uro p e ' s r oyal houses descend.
